Mariah has been surrounded by animals since she was a baby, growing up on a cattle farm and riding horses since the age of 9. She was heavily involved in horse showing, 4-H, and learning the ins and outs of helping run a family farm!
Mariah’s favorite part of her job is never knowing what each day holds. Every day is a new experience, and she is always eager to learn new things when it comes to Veterinary Medicine! She particularly enjoys learning about various surgeries, and hopes to one day return to Virginia Tech for Vet School. Occasional puppy snuggles are a huge perk to the job as well!
Mariah graduated in December of 2019 from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences. She has had experience in many areas during her time at VT, including being a member of the VT Horse Judging Team, Beef Leadership Council at Virginia Tech, and even took riding lessons while a student. Mariah joined the FUAC Team in August of 2020, hoping to expand her experiences into small animal medicine.
She shares her home with Peanut, an 11 year old Shih Tzu, that loves napping anytime, anywhere!
When Mariah is not working, she enjoys horseback riding, traveling (mostly to the beach), and being outdoors!
